Everything Pumpkin

Welcome to week four of the September Days blog/social media challenge. This week’s theme in the lead up to October, the entrance of fall, and the start of Thanksgiving is Everything Pumpkin.

Here in the Southern Hemisphere, pumpkin flavor is not a thing we associate with anything in particular, and we tend to serve it with our main course at dinner as a vegetable. There are two main ways we cook it, and those are either baked or boiled.

Pumpkins are the sign of autumn in the U.S. When you see the big orange ball, you know that the cooler weather has come. After growing the seeds all summer, you are making your final harvest before the winter sets in.

While some people like to carve pumpkins, they make a delicious pie that is a traditional dessert for our Thanksgiving meals.

Around the World

  • Stew in a pumpkin
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte
  • Pumpkin Cake
  • Stuffed pumpkin
  • Fried Pumpkin
  • Pumpkin Soup
  • Pumpkin piklets

Here’s a great YouTube video on how pumpkin is enjoyed around the world and you may find some great ideas to try.
