Study Guides for Literature Reviews

This article is in collaboration with Progeny Press.

Including quality reading material and classic literature in our homeschooling lessons is essential to a well-balanced education for our children. Literature guides from Progeny Press will help you take your literature studies to a new level. The mission of this company is “to teach our children to think clearly, to understand literature, and to rely on the scripture for truth and values, and enjoy themselves while they do it!” Their goal is to teach critical thinking, analysis, literary techniques, as well as studying the issues and themes in the books. All this built on the foundation of God’s word.

The Homeschool Review Crew recently had the opportunity to use a variety of study guides from different grade levels:

You can use these as a full literature program or to supplement your current curriculum. Each literature guide is available as a reproducible pdf file so you can print use them with multiple students. The guides for grades 4 and up have fillable fields so your student can work on a computer if you wish. In the lessons within the study guides you’ll find a synopsis, author information, pre-reading activities, as well as a look at each section/chapter of the book being studied. Vocabulary is included along with discussion questions. There is a Dig Deeper section that helps you and your student apply the story to real life. Provided with the study guides are full answer keys, making this an easy program to implement.
