“Celebrations are the ritualized interruptions in the continuum of daily life which remind us who we are, where we came from and where we are going.” -Milo Shannon-Thornberry
How do you celebrate the season? Celebrating the different seasons is done differently all over the world. I first heard about celebrating the different seasons when I joined Courtney at Women Living Well for the Making Your Home a Haven 31 Day Fall Challenge.
The thing that attracted me to the idea of celebrating a season was the simplicity of Courtney’s approach. It was things like burn a candle once a day, play soft music or bake something. These were all things I could do with the things that were already in my home. I did not need to go out and purchase something specific and spend hours decorating.
The thing about celebrations is they can become tradtions in your home that tie you together. Celebrations and traditions can take place daily, weekly, monthly, annually or seasonally. It’s up to you to find the perfect balance for your family.
For me my favorite season to decorate for is Christmas. I love all the color theory, the joy it brings my family and friends. For me, it’s a way to minister to the hearts of my family and friends.
As a family we love decorating a gingerbread house each year. You can find a three part gingerbread tutorial on my blog here.
Each year season come and go and there are multiple ways to celebrate them. Celebrating is a way of creating your family identity. These celebrations can be as elaborate or as simple as you want to make them. These celebrations become family traditions and are an important part of your family identity.
