Teaching your children to read is an important milestone when homeschooling. But, learning to read doesn’t always come easily. If you have a struggling reader or a non-reader, the PRIDE Reading Program can help. This easy to use, structured literacy curriculum uses the effective Orton-Gillingham method. It encourages the mastery of reading through engaging multisensory activities and repetition. Because the PRIDE Reading Program is completely scripted, and comes with a digital step-by-step Teaching Guide, you don’t have to have extensive training to successfully help your struggling reader. The lesson plans are ready to go, and you just systematically walk through each step. Though any student could use this program to learn to read, it was designed with struggling readers in mind. Children with dyslexia, auditory and visual processing disorders, speech deficits, and other learning differences have all benefited from this systematic approach to reading.
PRIDE Reading Program Components
Members of the Homeschool Review Crew have been using PRIDE Reading Program in their homes. They received a physical student kit and an online Teaching Guide. Students were asked to take a placement test first, to ensure they received the appropriate level. Along with the Teaching Guide, members gained access to a video-based training program. This contained about three hours’ worth of instruction and provided information about the basics of the Orton-Gillingham method. It also gave examples for the different types of activities and shared tips for successfully using this program at home. The student kit contained the Student Workbook and the other necessities, so you have everything you need to complete the level.
