Finding Mentors

No matter if you are just starting on your homeschooling journey or you have been homeschooling for years, finding mentors and those who will support you can be a key to success. Oftentimes it is very helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off of or to seek advice when your current curriculum does not seem to be working.

Finding Mentors in a Schoolhouse

A Schoolhouse is a local homeschool co-op or microschool which uses the PK–12 grade curriculum SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Like-minded parents join together to teach their children and find a community. Within these communities parents can find support and mentors.

In a Schoolhouse, parents will find a Biblical worldview woven into every subject. The co-op meets inside a local church two full days a week to encourage commitment to Christ-centered living and good character.

Because Schoolhouses are community based, there is accountability and positive peer pressure. Parents will find encouragement and support through the shared Schoolhouse experience.

Why Do We Need Mentors?

When we sit in our dining room with homeschool books all around us, it is all too easy to be discouraged. Are we using the correct curriculum? Why can’t our oldest understand Algebra? Are our children missing out on social activities?

If we have a homeschool mentor in our life, there is someone to walk alongside our homeschool journey. If our mentor is local or part of a Schoolhouse, we can meet in person. What a blessing! Sometimes when we find a mentor, these individuals might not be local. We might not even know our mentor personally, but that is okay too. Mentorship comes in many forms.
