The Homeschool Crew looked over ALEKS. I’m not extremely familiar with ALEKS, so I’m just going to copy and paste the information from their website here:
ALEKS is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn’t know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained. ALEKS courses are very complete in their topic coverage and ALEKS avoids multiple choice questions. A student who shows a high level of mastery of an ALEKS course will be successful in the actual course she is taking.
ALEKS also provides the advantages of one-on-one instruction, 24/7, from virtually any web-based computer for a fraction of the cost of a human tutor.

Both my math phobic and math loving sons have really enjoyed using ALEKS for the past 3 weeks. So far, our experience has been fantastic and this resource could be a very cost effective option for a family in need of math tutoring.

A wonderful resource for those sticky subjects of math and science. ALEKS is like having a personal tutor and record keeper all in one for each of your children.

Online math course which teaches for mastery. Love it!
Very Challening math program. Keeps my child thinking on how to work the problems and understand them.
This was one I couldn't give a rave review for because it just wasn't a fit for my 5 yo, but I'm glad to have had the chance to review it for possible use in the future!

after several attempts with the company, were not able to get this up and running. we would not spend this per child on our family's monthly budget for online services, but it looks like a great concept. reviewed based on access we had.
