IndoctriNation DVD Review

This article is in collaboration with Great Commission Films.

“Are the public schools an educational “neutral zone,” or a humanistic program designed to undermine the influence of the Church and the family? Is there any truth to the “salt and light” argument that encourages Christians to send their kids to public school? “ -from the IndoctriNation website

IndoctriNation cover 300Great Commission Films recently sent members of the Review Crew their DVD IndoctriNation: Public Schools and the Decline of Christianity in America for our honest review. A little bit of testimony and quite a lot of documentary, IndoctriNation is a 102 minute DVD intended for Christian teachers, parents, and pastors. The origins and decline of public schools in America are discussed, and IndoctriNation issues a call to rise up as Christians, to recognize what our responsibility in education is, and to take back the education of our children as we teach and disciple the next generation.

IndoctriNation follows Colin Gunn, homeschooling father of seven children and Scotland native turned Texan as he takes up a unique quest: to buy, fittingly enough, a school bus and go on a countrywide trek to explore what has become of public schools as they have changed over the years. As Gunn travels, he speaks with many people across America including many well known men such as Voddie Baucham, R.C. Sproul, Jr., Howard Phillips, Ken Ham, Gary North, Kevin Swanson, and so many more. IndoctriNation includes interviews with teachers, former students, a Columbine High School parent, and others as Gunn explores what Americans believe about the public school system – and what’s really happening in the schools and the curriculum that’s being taught to our children in public schools across America today.

Prepare to be rebuked, challenged, convicted, and encouraged as you follow Gunn across America as he explores where our education system has gone and what our duty as Christian parents is in education. If you’re on the fence about homeschooling or choosing a Christian school over public, want reassurance as to why you’ve chosen the homeschooling path, or want to understand why others have made that decision, this is a great resource to buy, own, and loan. That big yellow bus takes us on an eye opening adventure and the film finishes as that school bus teaches a lesson all its own.
