How Does this Online Reading Program for Struggling Readers Work?

Overview of all six parts of the Reading Program for struggling readers
  • Engaging Eyes

Struggling readers often have convergence insufficiency. Engaging Eyes uses games to build these necessary skills. The Target Practice game requires 3-D glasses, which Dyslexia Gold provides. Two more included games are the Whack an Alien game and the Eye Tracking game. These games help children develop eye movement strength. This program, an essential component for success, only takes 10 minutes a day.

  • Fluency Builder

Based on scientific research about the brain, this program uses games to build phonological awareness and auditory discrimination -two skills fundamental to reading successfully. Fluency Builder contains fifty lessons. Each lesson covers a new sound. Additionally, students read a passage that teaches new vocabulary. As a result, this program fine-tunes a student’s reading speed, accuracy, and comprehension.

  • Spelling Tutor

Using dictation, the Spelling Tutor teaches one thousand of the most frequently used words. Students write down words and sentences and self-correct. This method continually repeats until students master the spelling word.

  • Times Table Tutor

Using a multi-sensory approach, Times Tables Tutor helps students learn their multiplication tables up through 12 x 12 in 10 minutes a day. Times Tables Tutor presents math facts repetitively, in a personalized way, but with no timer to make the experience stress-free. Repetition is the key to this program.

  • Reading Unlocked

As a strong phonics program, Reading Unlocked begins with teaching sounds, then moves to simple words, followed by multi-syllable words. This program is for younger students or those who struggle significantly with reading basics.
