Learn Grammar Skills with Easy Grammar Systems

This post is in collaboration with Easy Grammar Systems.

Easy Grammar Ultimate Series: Grade 9 from Easy Grammar Systems is a systematic daily approach to teaching grammar skills for ninth graders. It can be used independently or as a follow-up to the lower levels of Easy Grammar.

What Is Included in Easy Grammar Ultimate Series: Grade 9

The Easy Grammar Ultimate Series: Grade 9 is primarily a teacher edition book with reproducible student pages and a small student test book. If you have more than one student and do not wish to make copies of the student pages, you can purchase a separate student edition.

The teacher edition includes instructions on how the program works, a detailed scope and sequence, 180 days of student pages that include teaching material and student practice, and an answer key.

How Does Easy Grammar Ultimate Series: Grade 9 Work?

This program is split into 180 days, with each day being approximately ten minutes of work. Each day’s work is on a separate page with five sections. These sections include both teaching instructions and student practice. The format for each page is the same and includes:

  1. Capitalization
  2. Punctuation
  3. Grammar/Usage and Other Concepts
  4. Grammar/Usage and Other Concepts
  5. Sentence Combining

The content in each section builds from day to day and can include both new material and review material. Depending on your students, it could be completed independently, with the student reading the teaching and completing the activity. The parent could also work through the teaching with the student and then have him or her complete the work. ndently, with the student reading the teaching and completing the activity. What Types of Grammar Skills are Covered?

Day one starts with very basic grammar skills, such as periods, question marks, and capitalizing proper nouns. The curriculum moves forward and gets more in-depth each day, using a cyclical approach to continue reviewing concepts for mastery.

For example, by day 82, students are working on colons and learning to capitalize government bodies, departments, and offices, but not the types of government.

For parts of speech, it starts by explaining the parts of speech but moves into using the correct forms, modifying the verbs, and other more complex grammar rules.

Finally, a section at the bottom of each page has several short sentences. The student learns to combine those shorter sentences for better writing.
