With historical fiction Christian biographies, from Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Publishing, your child is introduced to Christian heroes that have led extraordinary lives for Christ and impacted history with their godly morals, values, and purposes.
Current events of the time, geography, other important people, and additional pertinent facts are presented in an exciting, emotional way for each of YWAM Publishing’s heroes.
YWAM was founded in 1960 by Loren and Darlene Cunningham. They have a mission-minded spirit aimed at helping all ages, particularly children, in knowing who God is and teaching them how to share God’s love with others. YWAM shares God’s love in many mission-type ministries, including their publishing company.
Through YWAM Publishing, they make Christian resources available for all ages in Christian living, missions, music & worship, fiction, and they place a particular emphasis on their homeschooling resources.
Within these homeschooling resources are books that give general homeschooling tips, prayer guides, fiction mysteries for kids, and the beloved Christian biographies.
YWAM Publishing has four different Christian biography series:
The Heroes for Young Readers
This series is for ages 5-10. Each of the twenty-three books is hardcover, and the text is written in rhyming poem form. These stories introduce children to Christian heroes: William Carey, Loren Cunningham, Bethany Hamilton, and Betty Greene are just a few.
The Heroes of History for Young Readers
This series is for ages 5-10 also. Like the Heroes for Young Readers series, these continue with hardcovers, bright illustrations, and rhyming text. There are currently seven books in this series: George Washington Carver, Meriwether Lewis, George Washington, Clara Barton, Daniel Boone, Louis Zamperini, and Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Heroes of History
YWAM Publishing has a series simply named, Heroes of History for kids older than ten. This series contains thirty books about Christian heroes that have influenced American history. These are paper-backed books and are written in story form. A few names in this series include Ben Carson, Milton Hershey, Davy Crockett, Billy Graham, and Ronald Reagan.
Christian Heroes: Then & Now
Also, there is a large series called Christian Heroes: Then & Now for children older than ten. This series currently consists of fifty paper-backed books, and it covers Christian Heroes from 1700 to 1960. Amy Carmichael, C.S. Lewis, Jim Elliot, and D.L. Moody are just a few popular names on this list.
