This article is in collaboration with True Girl.
True Girl began in 2006 with the mission of “Bringing moms and daughters closer to each other and closer to Jesus.” They create resources and host events around the country for mothers and daughters to attend.
The battle for young girls’ hearts and minds is fierce. Unfortunately, there is a real enemy who disguises himself with well-crafted lies.
One resource they offer is a mother-daughter Bible study! Lies Girls Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free, written by Dannah Gresh, identifies pervasive lies that tween girls face in this day and time. This book can be read independently, but it is suggested that moms read the companion book, A Mom’s Guide to Lies Girls Believe, alongside their daughters.
Lies Girls Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free
Lies Girls Believe is designed for girls ages 8-12. It begins with explaining the very first lie ever told. Satan deceived Eve with a lie in the Garden and has not stopped since. The author states, “There are going to be tough battles in your daughter’s life as Satan seeks to lie to her, and God wants her to know and believe Truth.” This book targets specific lies that are common among tween girls.

A Mom’s Guide to Lies Girls Believe
A Mom’s Guide to Lies Girls Believe is the companion book to complete this mother-daughter Bible study. This guide goes along chapter by chapter with the tween’s book, with additional information written just for moms. Both the tween book and mom’s guide are designed to help identify lies from the enemy and equip girls to combat those lies with Truth.
The need for a mother-daughter Bible study like this is paramount in our fallen world! Moms and daughters will have the opportunity to discuss challenging issues but in a casual way. Lies Girls Believe is the perfect addition to any tween girl’s household.
