This article is in collaboration with ARTistic Pursuits.
The importance of creativity and the arts to overall success in learning is no longer a secret. Around here, ARTistic Pursuits Inc. is a common standard for homeschool art instruction. Since 1999, they have developed experiences in the visual arts that allow children to create original works of art, not just imitations of one. They offer a wide variety of books for all skill levels and the newest editions are the ARTistic Pursuits Art Instruction Books with DVD and Blu-Ray series.
These hard-bound books the Crew are reviewing include the following volumes:
Art for Children, Building a Visual Vocabulary, Volume 1
This first book in the series is made up of 18 lessons that work to introduce student to what it means to be an artist, what artists do and the vocabulary involved in the artistic process.
Art of the Ancients, Volume 2
This volume looks at ancient art history where students are presented with different ways to see the world. Through new information on art materials and established techniques, students are encouraged to create art of their own.
Art of the Middle Ages, Volume 3
This third volume highlights art produced in the Middle Ages from the early Migration Period to the Gothic architecture of France. Students continue their art experiences through the ideology of the period and methods for making art.
Artists that Shaped the Italian Renaissance, Volume 4
This fourth volume tells the stories of artists who shaped the way Western cultures now look at the world. With new design challenges and discoveries of the period, students expand their understanding of the Italian Renaissance and its artwork.
