Word of the Year

Word for the YEAR 2016 Link Up

Happy New Year from the Schoolhouse Review Crew!

Last year I read that the reason New Year’s resolutions don’t work is because the focus is on the person. We’re tired of being (overweight, procrastinating, unfocused, lazy, disorganized), instead of on the person God wants us to become and the process needed for that transformation. I think that’s why the idea of choosing a word for the year has become so popular. Having a word to guide us gives us a positive trait to strive for and can be applied in a multitude of different areas in our lives.

Define Words: A communication, a message, information, command, signal, direction, intention, language used in anger, rebuke or otherwise emotional. A term, expression, account, promise.

As I think about the very nature of words I am reminded that God created the whole universe by the power of a spoken WORD!  I think we often underestimate the power of words in our very lives.

What are words? They convey our desires, fears, and thoughts. They are easily ambiguous and can be misunderstood. Their purpose is to transfer ideas, impart knowledge, to break down barriers. Our words flow one way from us to others, once spoken they are gone forever, the thought is sown. We can never retrieve them. The meaning can get lost so easily so we need to select suitable words, be clear and articulate of the intended message.

Take some time.  Pray. Seek His will for YOU in 2016. Write your word.  Draw a word cloud or colour a picture.  Put it up in a place where you can see it each and every day, add it to your mobile devices as a screensaver. Make it a positive word.  One that will inspire, encourage and uplift you when the going gets tough.

May you experience the depth and breadth of His love for you in 2016.  If you are a blogger please blog about your word and link up below so we can be inspired and encouraged together.  If you don’t have a blog leave your word in the comments section. I would love to hear about your inspiring WORD for 2016.
