The ability to type and use a word processing program is an essential skill in today’s world. There are many programs available but after looking them over, Leanne Beitel could not find a program that taught the touch-typing method using Biblical references for typing drill – a necessary requirement for the private school arena that she worked in. She decided to produce her own program that would combine the fundamentals of touch-typing, MLA and APA report formatting, with the added bonus of using passages of Scripture for typing material. Keyboarding for the Christian School is the product that she developed.
Crew Members received two products for review – Keyboarding for the Christian School (suitable for grades 6 and up) and Keyboarding for the Christian School, Elementary Version (for grades K-5). Both programs focus on mastery of the keyboard using the touch-typing method and drill practice using Scripture references. Each lesson begins with an introduction of two new keys, followed by a review section for previously learned keys, and half the lessons include optional timed typing drills.
The upper level program also covers the following topics:
- MLA Reports
- APA Reports
- Cover Page
- Works Cited
- Bibliography
- Personal Business Letters
- Business Letters
- Envelopes
- Proofreader’s Marks
While initially made for Christian schools, these programs need no adaptation for the homeschool environment. If you’d like to learn more, you can see a few sample pages here. Both versions of Keyboarding for the Christian School are available as e-books (upper level is $15.95 and elementary version is $12.95).

A good fit for our family.

My 12-year-old son is enjoying learning to type using Christian Keyboarding. The program on CD that he used previously was just too much pressure. With the Christian Keyboarding book, he can move at his own pace.
This program is a great fit for my son, but not for my daughter. I am thankful my son is learning to type without tears and frustration now!
Reminiscent of my highschool typing course. Just what I was looking for for my guys.
A simple and complete keyboarding program that works.

This is a non-stressful way to learn keyboarding skills-just like my high school typing class. Works great with all three children.
Good, no frills instruction for kids
This reminds me of how I learned to type in school only with scripture instead!

refreshing to have christian content tucked into other subjects such as keyboarding!
The concept of learning at your own pace is novel to typing programs for kids, and we love it! This product totally fits into our homeschool!
We are liking this prouduct and finding it simple, easy to use and will last through both children. We used the Lower Elementary version
I liked the straightforward approach of of this program.
This works well for us.
We really like this curriculum for our keyboarding/computer skills. I have even used the section for number keypad for me!! 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to review!

This was not something we enjoyed. A no-frills approach with very few scriptures actually in the elementary level.
