Homeschooling All the Way Through

Many, many times over the past 14 years of our home education journey I have been asked if we intend to “Homeschool all the way through.” When our girls were younger I would answer “Until God tells us to stop.” Now that our oldest has graduated, and our youngest is a High School Junior, I think I can just answer – “Yes!”

If you are wondering if you can do this – homeschool all the way through, I want to encourage you that – yes, you can…with help! I have found help in various ways – firstly, by the strength, God gives me daily to parent our girls and teach them. Secondly ~ a supportive husband. Kurt has worked hard and sacrificed much over the years so we could all pursue this lifestyle of home education together. Thirdly – I’ve gotten so much help from our local homeschooling community. Be it friends from church, 4-H, our local support group, or parents from homeschool gym class, I’ve gathered hope and encouragement from other Moms who continue on during good times and bad.

I’ve been in a unique place during all of our homeschooling years, as I’ve needed to be employed outside the home as well as homeschooling. It has been tough, but worth it! Save your pennies for the important stuff! All those years when the girls were little and Kurt and I worked opposite shifts – not easy. These past few years of High School – when you really need to keep records, and gasp ~ grades, not easy, but worth it! As a working and homeschooling Mama there isn’t much I haven’t seen and endured. Thankfully my Savior has been by my side, holding me up and giving me the grace to share.

Wherever you are on your homeschooling journey, we invite you to join us this week for our Homeschool Review Crew 5 Days of Homeschooling Blog Hop! There are going to be many topics covered by great bloggers so that you can be sure to find encouragement for your journey!
