What is ALEKS?

Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces is a Web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. (doesn’t that sound so very official?)

ALEKS uses adaptive questioning  to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn’t know in a course. (ALEKS asks a series of questions… offering different math problems to your student, more than once.. delivered each time in a slightly different way)

ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics they are most ready to learn. (Your student will be able to choose the “topic” they will work on.  The topics offered will progress from easier to more complex)

As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained. (ALEKS will retest your student at a pace consistent with how they progress through the program.  It will address inconsistent work patterns and keep your child from guessing and moving on.  The goal of ALEKS is mastery.)

ALEKS courses are very complete in their topic coverage and ALEKS avoids multiple-choice questions.

ALEKS courses are available for grades 3-12 and beyond.  They are designed for independent and individualized learning experiences. Each course comes with unlimited online access.  You may use the program on more than one computer in your home and it is compatible with both PC and MAC systems.  ALEKS also offers courses that can be taken for ACE Recommended College Credit.

Subscriptions are available for $19.95 a month, $99.95 for 6 months of access, or $179.95 for 12 months.  For families with more than one child, discount pricing is available.
