Great Homeschool Conventions: Greenville, SC
March 20-22, 2014
TD Convention Center

Be sure to stop by the vendor hall booth for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine to pick up your copy of the brand new 2014 Print Edition and to learn about all of the other fun and exciting things happening with TOS! On Friday and Saturday, the TOS booth will have a special guest — the Flylady!

Our featured speaker from this convention is Diana Waring.

diana waringAuthor of Beyond Survival, Reaping the Harvest and Diana Waring’s History Revealed world history curriculum, Diana discovered years ago that “the key to education is relationship.” Beginning in the early ’80s, Diana homeschooled her children through high-school—the real life opportunities to learn how kids learn.  Mentored by educators whose focus was honoring Him who created all learners, and with an international background (born in Germany, university degree in French, lifelong student of world history), Diana cares about how people learn as well as what they learn.  Audiences on four continents have enthusiastically received her energetic speaking style.

Diana’s speaking topics in Greenville will include:

Created to Remember: Join Diana for this dynamic session that will reframe your understanding of why we study history, while exploring the value and pitfalls of this—in all of Creation—uniquely human endeavor, and inspiring a deeper awe toward the One who created us to remember.

I Didn’t See That Coming  (with Jay Wile): In this seminar, they share their thoughts on what should happen when your children make life choices that are unexpected.

Exposing the Wizard of Oz— A Christian’s Guide to Teaching History: The essential crash course for every homeschool parent. Discover insights from Diana’s research behind the events of history.

Arguing To Learn: The Benefits of Controversy (with Jay Wile): In this seminar, Jay Wile and Diana Waring discuss the benefits of studying things in the context of a disagreement, what students get when they study the “other side,” and the ground rules for dealing with controversies in both education and Christianity.

  11. Diana is a favorite around here. We talk about what she has to say as if she told us the material in person: “Do you remember when Diana was talking about…” She’d be a fun speaker at a convention.:)
