  1. If it isn’t necessary, don’t buy it. And don’t be afraid to shop off brand – like Aldi – as long as you are ok with it. For clothes, don’t be afraid to buy nice stuff once and then pass it down if you have multiples (we’ll buy through land’s end outlet/overstocks/etc and pay $5-9 a dress). Learn how to sew/mend – that has saved us tons. 🙂 For online shopping – offer to share those ‘free perks’ with others so the cost is split and you get the benefit (like amazon prime, BAM millionaire, etc)

  2. I scan everything in the store when I’m shopping with my amazon app. Sometimes I find out that something in the store is MUCH cheaper on amazon & I get free shipping!

  3. If there’s something I’m not sure about, I don’t buy it! I know it will bother me later – especially if it’s something on sale or cheap! Don’t give in!

  4. I like to grocery shop at the same time/same day. Makes it easy to say no to extra trips to the store to get something that we ran out of. Each extra trip can turn into a major purchase when you see things to buy.
