A Cry from Egypt

A Cry From Egypt was written by Hope Auer and illustrated by Mike Slaton, both recent homeschool graduates themselves.  It is published by Great Waters Press, which also published Raising Real Men by Hal and Melanie Young. Hope Auer has been writing stories and plays since she was very young.  She began writing A Cry From Egypt, the first book in The Promised Land Series, as a school assignment when she was only thirteen and her family was studying ancient Egypt!  This historical fiction book deals with the period before the Exodus, when the Israelites were still in slavery.

    • I am most interested in the history of the United States and the settling of the West. I had relatives that came over on the Mayflower and others that were the first to settle in their area of MT so I find it interesting because of that.

  1. I love the architecture of the Victorian Era (1837-1910). But the history of Ancient Egypt has always been fascinating to me.

  2. I would love to use of these resources with my daughters. When I was taught ancient history it seemed very dry and boring. These books and cds seem like they’d really make it come alive!

  3. The time of revolution and reformation! I also love discovery and exploration. I guess some of that kinda goes together. I also really enjoy Meso-American and Native American studies as well as Asian history, especially in regards to discovery and exploration of Europe. It is like watching this great big world, like big as in going to another planet big, suddenly become smaller. It certainly changes your perspective on the human condition and God’s creation.
