Beautiful Books for Christmas: Homeschool Link UP

One of the greatest pleasures I have in life is that of beautiful books.  For me a beautiful book needs to have two things: beautiful words and be beautifully illustrated.  Life is far too short to have one without the other in the lives of our children.  As such I endeavor to share these treasures when I do find them.

The Man Who Invented Christmas by Les Standiford

This is one of those books that you don’t forget in a hurry. It’s living history and human interest in one beautiful book. This books was hard to put down. It’s full of wonderful, insightful and well researched information. Having always known Christmas as it is today I was surprised to learn what Christmas was like back in the Victorian era and how much this influenced Charles Dickens . If you love Christmas and Charles Dickens then this is definitely a must read for you.

Silent Night and Other Christmas Carols Illustrated by Lee Krutop contains eight traditional carols beautifully illustrated with pop up inserts. It’s the sort of book you and your children will spend hours looking over.

The Lighthouse Christmas by Toni Buzzeo This book is beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written.

What are some of your favorite books this Christmas?
